Before discussing about this Society lets think about a quote once "WE CAN'T HELP EVERYONE BUT EVERY ONE CAN HELP SOMEONE" OR “IF YOU CAN’T FEED 100 PEOPLE, THEN FEED JUST ONE” so everyone lets join our hands together to help atleast someone............
“THE BEST WAY TO FIND YOURSELF’ IS TO LOSE YOURSELF’ IN THE SERVICE OF OTHERS”
There is a great saying of Mother Theresa that "LONELINESS AND THE FEELING OF UNWANTED, UNLOVED, UNCARED IS THE MOST TERRIBLE POVERTY".
Every child is the image of God. Every child should experience the love & care of mother & father particularly those who do not have parents. For many children they don’t know their parents, for many their Father & Mother were dead, for some their Father/Mother left them, they don’t want them, for some other children, from the beginning they were born as handicapped, because of their handicapped:-mentally/Physically/visually/psychologically disabled their parents left them, for some other children, their families are broken families, for some other children, their families are large families, they don’t bother about their children. Some are blind and some can’t listen, speak. The children are very poor & in a worst condition. What they actually need is lots of love and affection and a bit of help. All the children always welcome every one with a great smile.
“Whoever welcomes this child (orphan) in my name welcomes me” -Luke 9:48
Education is the key to unlock the golden door to freedom. Education is the means of development, we know that " THE CHILDREN GROWING UP IN TODAY'S WORLD ARE TOMORROW'S FUTURE" Orphans, poor, Dalit, Tribal, needy Children cannot able to afford themselves. So Society helps the Orphan, poor, Dalit, Tribal and needy students by giving Uniforms , food, clothes, stationary, Bags, Books, Stationary, Dresses, medicine, education. Mother Theresa says ‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love’. The joy of life is to give HOPESSS.
Handicap is not a curse. Some times the handicap people are treated in the family as a hopeless being. Most of the handicap people are from lower strata of the Society. For running their lively hood they are compelled to go for labor. In such cases we offer them our help by looking after them in special schools, training them to develop self help skills and also by vocational training. A baby child tries to walk on her/his foot, his sole is firmly grounded. Immediately he/she holds the fingers of her/his Mother. Catches the wrist of his/her Father for standing. A child born without two legs and two hands also tries to stand on this beautiful earth with the support of wheelchair. You could be the reason for disabled 100% walk. This organisation also helps the physically handicapped people by giving them artificial limbs.
Mentally ill people are not accepted and cared in their own families. Some of them are ill-treated, physically abused and even thrown out from the families. In this situation our hopesss are there to accept them to look after these less privileged ones. Treatment, and other rehabilitation programmes.
A security feeling of body and mind is an important factor for an individual. Many people at their old age were left by their children and many people spend their last days in these old age homes. What they actually need is lots of love and affection and a bit of help.
Drug addicts are numerous everywhere in this world. Drug addicted cases are harmful and they destroy their own life and of others. Their family is destroyed gradually and the life situation becomes very crucial. By the treatment and counseling, the whole family could be saved and lead a peaceful life. “Let's make this world a better community without drugs.”
People living in slums are not bothered of their moral life, safety, security, education and so on. HOPESSS accept the challenge of living together with them in the slums and give them direction for a healthy and happy life in the society.
Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods can often come at the least expected time. Others, such as hurricanes and cyclones are increasing in severity and destruction. Typically, the poor are the worst hit for they have the least resources to cope and rebuild. When a natural disaster strikes, the HOPESSS volunteers plays a role in responding. Resources and employee support are mobilized to assist the affected communities. In many cases, HOPESSS is in a unique position to address the particular needs created by natural disasters, as our capabilities include technology, expertise and products in areas such as water, food and health care. When natural disasters and humanitarian crises strike, communities are often devastated and left vulnerable, having little access to some of life's essentials, such as food, clean water, shelter, and basic services. While they must deal with the tragic loss of human life and property, they also have to face the uncertainty of seeing their livelihoods destroyed or severely affected. We provide compassionate care to those in need .HOPESSS responds to disaster victims, ranging from home fires that affect a single family to hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami and flood that impacts thousands. We help them get back on their feet. Let us join together, be with us in this noble service.
Certain illnesses affect an individual directly; it has implications for the community. The life of villagers in rural India is primitive hygienic conditions; poor nutritional values, remote access to health facilities; and illiteracy in addition superstition prevails all-over. Since all the household chores, including water and firewood fetching, are the responsibility of women, many girl children drop out of schools and forced to work long hours around the household. Health is prime issue in the rural and Tribal women have raised in the initial days of the programme. Critical analysis of the Social factors - multiple roles women plays, Work load, customs and traditions that influence their health, all directly or indirectly impacting women’s health both mental and physical. Keeping these in mind various activities are taken up to develop a perspective at village level. So the Organization take initiative in conducting Health awareness and checkup camps and campaigns on HIV / AIDS, Leprosy were our areas of action.
“Education to a boy is educating one person, but education to a girl is educating a family”. Two-thirds of the world's illiterates are female. Of the millions of school age children not in school, the majority are girls. Due to poor socio-economic conditions in many young girls discontinue their schooling and their future appears bleak. There are not many options available before them to earn livelihood. The position of girls is even worse. Some girls of our working areas do not even move freely out of their families or areas. There is a need to provide space to come out to a free environment and provide them the opportunities to develop. This will enhance their capacity to stand in today’s competitive world. Save girl child, educate girl child. As an organization, we are constantly making efforts to empower the girls to go to school.
Safe, affordable housing is a basic necessity for every family. Without a decent place to live, people cannot be productive members of society, children cannot learn and families cannot thrive. Until the housing crisis is remedied, other social problems will be inadequately addressed. Families will continue to lose the battle against crime, poor education, inadequate nutrition, decaying neighborhoods, insufficient health care and welfare dependency. One in every five rural dwellers lives in katcha homes which are structures made of mud, thatch, grass or other non-lasting natural materials. In urban areas, the poor can be found living under bridges, on pavements, train tracks, highways and canals as well as in crowded slums. HOPESSS helps to turn expectations into reality by transforming lives through the provision of safe, decent and affordable homes. A decent home opens the door to improved health, greater economic opportunities and increased community cohesion. With your support, we can make the impossible into possible. Support this poor people by joining with us.
“Child is meant to learn, not to earn”. Child Labour is a reality of economically developing India. Due to their poor financial conditions they have to work, sometimes they are involved in hazardous activities. Education remains a distant dream for them and if they want to study they have to go to municipal schools where the environment is not conductive for education. We have continuously raised our voice for the rights of children and we are a part of a number of forums and networks like Child Line, Child Labour Collective, etc working for the rights of children. These children cannot attend regular classes in schools because of their working hours and yet desire to educate themselves. With the objective of providing support and encouragement to the children who have to work to earn the organization runs an extra classes for child laborers.
A street children are refuge with little of security but lots of dangers. Miserable conditions like poverty, malnutrition, broken home, ill treatment by parents, step-parents and other such factors drive him to the street. The street where he hopes to find a better place exposes him to a variety of physical and moral dangers like sickness, violence, abuse, exploitation, drug addiction, etc. Many other children run away from home or an institution to escape psychological, physical or sexual abuse. Some children are homeless with their families. They may be displaced due to poverty or natural disasters or are refugees from areas of conflict. The family will move around frequently. Others children with disabilities, abandoned by their families, few children separated from their families for long periods of time, or children affected by or orphaned due to HIV/AIDs. Many street children work on the streets to contribute to their family’s income for low-paid work such as shining shoes or selling goods on the streets, scavenge for food or beg. Others are exploited by gangs and criminals and end up selling drugs, stealing and in prostitution. For earning money /survival they prevent from being able to access schooling. Children also lack medical care and inadequate living conditions mean they are more susceptible to chronic illnesses. They are frequently harassed or harmed by the police and often find themselves in conflict with the law. As a consequence many street children use drugs, including alcohol, cigarettes, heroin, cannabis and glue, to help them deal with the hardships they experience. They can feel very alienated from societies that see them as criminals. The right to a quality education is just one of the rights that street children are denied. Education is the most effective way to enable street children to reintegrate into society. HOPESSS works to develop basic education, healthcare, counseling, vocational training, legal aid etc for street children. HOPESSS also works to develop alternative approaches are to use dance, music, sports, circus skills and art projects as ways to draw street children into learning. These can then provide pathways into more mainstream education later on.
“Ability is nothing without Opportunity”. Back to School is a HOPESSS initiative to ensure that all children have equal opportunities to go to school. Education is the foundation for a secure future. A child's mind and attitude is shaped through education. Lack of basic school supplies, lack of proper school infrastructure, lack of motivation and inability to cope with lessons taught in schools are some of the many reasons children drop out of schools, some don't even start their education. If a child cannot come to school, then the school must come to the child. Back to School gives you an opportunity to provide for the needs of children with the zeal to pursue education. Education is the best gift one can give a child. Where there is a need, there is HOPESSS.
HOPESSS runs evening tuition centers in few districts of srikakulam and vizianagaram. Our aim is to provide supplementary education to children of rural and slum areas in order to bring them up to an academic level, where they can compete with children from developed urban areas. Secondary schools in urban or semi-urban areas are without supplemental help; the leap from village school to secondary school often results in truancy (drop-out) and depression. For Slum Children, being financially weak, quality education still remains elusive, irrespective of their geographical proximity to it. HOPESSS provides a very poor rural child to have access to free tuition at our Evening Study Centers. These centers are established basically to enhance the school experience of the village children by providing them assistance in completing their homework, clarifying their doubts in their subjects, paying more attention to weaker subjects and to provide the children with some nutritional supplement. Besides we encourage them in sports activities, gardening, yoga etc. They also learn life skills like spoken English, eco-protection, arts & crafts, personality development etc. Awareness on tree planting, cleanliness, good habitual practices, toilet usage, etc. are taught to them. Each of our centers has 25-30 children between the ages of 5 years to 15 years. Classes will be of 2 hours daily. Our society is in need of more such centers. Be with us in this noble service.
India's youth faces serious problems of unemployment and underemployment. The causes are legion and include dropping out of high school because of poor education, needing to support one's family at an early age, a lack of information on the job market and most importantly, not possessing the basic skills required by employers today. Many youth engage in daily wage work unaware of the opportunities available to them. HOPESSS Vocational Training Units help provide individuals with practical skills. The aim is to create sustainable youth skilling programs for employment in industry and to foster entrepreneurship. Our objectives are to provide vocational skills training and subsequent job opportunities to underprivileged youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. To help youth build confidence and develop the foundational skills needed to succeed in the professional world. To meet the labour demands of high-growth sectors in India. To create entrepreneurs through mentoring and financial support. To attain self-sustainability. To achieve economic development. At present, tailoring courses are being undertaken at districts of srikakulam and vizianagaram. We are planning for more such centers. Join our venture to transform the society.
Women in the marginalized strata of Indian society have to struggle at two fronts: in the family they have a low place and in society also they have a doubled low place as marginalized and as women. Around the world, when millions of people get food two or three times a day, a significant percentage of women get it only once, suffering from severe malnutrition. And the same becomes their children's fate as well. They do not have the space to come out freely of the four walls of their homes. Hence, it is very important to provide a stage to them where they can walk free, breathe in fresh air and interact with each other. Experiences show that when women are supported and empowered, the whole society benefits. Their families are healthier, more children go to school, agricultural productivity improves and incomes increase, communities become more resilient. "There is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved. It is not possible for a bird to fly on only one wing. "We, HOPESSS undertake several initiatives to enable women and girls find their voice, their power and their community. Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai famous quote "I raise up my voice-not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back." As an organization, we are constantly making efforts to empower & educate women through the medium of savings. Women empowerment is the empowerment of women which helps them to take their own decisions by breaking all personal limitations of the society and family. “Women are the real architects of society”
“HUMANITY IS THE BEST RELIGION OF HUMAN BEING. THE BEST & MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD CANNOT BE SEEN OR EVEN TOUCHED. THEY MUST BE FELT WITH THE HEART. I LEARNED TO ‘GIVE’ NOT BECAUSE I HAVE MANY. BUT BECAUSE I KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT FEELS TO HAVE ‘NOTHING”. THE JOY OF LIFE IS TO GIVE HOPESSS.
